Stainless Steel 317/317L Fasteners consist of chromium (18-20%), nickel (11-15%), and molybdenum (3-4%) with less carbon content in 317L for better weldability. They display good mechanical characteristics such as a tensile strength of 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and good elongation of about 35%. Their density is around 8.0 g/cm³, and they possess a melting point about 1370–1398°C. Adding molybdenum provides them with additional resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in acidic and chlorinated environments and makes them stronger and more durable.
